It’s mid-July, which means you’ve probably just reached the peak of your sun-kissed summer glow. The sun sets after 9pm, the weather is getting hotter (too hot) and you’re wondering how to keep your summer romance going in the fall. The season is flying by, but summer isn’t over yet, which means you still have time to try out the hottest summer fashion trends of 2022.

This season’s trends will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and make a statement. So while you’re contemplating whether to wear a shade brighter than the sun or add a body chain to your look (my vote is to do both), it’s important to remember that the best Accessorize your outfit with an “I’m hot and I know it” attitude.

But you don’t just have to take my word for it. I spoke to supermodel Chanel Iman for her summer fashion tips to help you feel and look your best. Since Chanel Iman has walked countless fashion shows and worn every trend before they hit stores, I have complete confidence in her contribution to this summer’s trends.

Iman says, “If I’ve learned anything about fashion over the course of my career, it’s to be bold and confident when showing your style – and most importantly, to be yourself. Bold patterns are a hit this summer!”

Just because you buy bold pieces doesn’t mean they have to break the bank. Retailers like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Asos often have a version of each trend for a better version of the price.

According to Iman, Marshalls “has a wide range of styles with fun, funky patterns that are perfect for summer – like this one.” Blouse for only $12! I like to combine bold patterns with simple opposites like these short jeans to make the blouse the eye-catcher of my look.”

The good news is that all of the top trends in summer fashion can easily be spiced up with some bright accessories or accessories toned down by pairing them with basics like jeans or a classic blazer. Keep scrolling to choose which trend you want to dive into before summer swims by.

At the moment, the fashion game’s name is The Brighter The Better, and Hot Pink is as bright as it gets. The shade first rose in popularity when Valentino made it the only color on his runway last season, and pretty much every celebrity has sported it since! Just when it seemed pink couldn’t get any hotter, Barbiecore, the nostalgic bimbo fashionista look, reemerged. Coincidentally (or not so much), photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in pink on the set of the upcoming Barbie movie were released at the same time. I predict bright colors will see through fall, but summer is definitely the prime time to wear them.

If wearing an all-pink outfit is daunting, take advice from model Chanel Iman and incorporate neon colors into your accessories. “Since my style is more colorful and relaxed, my favorite way is always to take a simple dress and accessorize it,” says Iman.

This hot pink dress with cut out details is the perfect way to make a statement for a summer dinner or a night on the town. Additionally, if you want to tone it down, you can always wear a neutral blazer over it.

Dressing up for the summer heat often means ditching layers and outfit elements that add detail to stay cool, which is why I love the mesh trend so much. Mesh adds texture and dimension to any look and can be worn for any occasion. For example, a mesh dress with no slips is the perfect swimsuit cover-up, or a mesh tank can be paired with layered jewelry and baggy jeans for an effortlessly cool daytime look. My favorite take on the trend is crisp white mesh dresses (like the one pictured above). Pair the dress with a contrasting bag and bright shoes to complete the look.

Openwork cotton dress

Mango’s low-cut dress has slip underneath and hits just above the knee. The mesh overlay is said to be a bit oversized, so don’t be afraid to scale up.

Only use a woven bag by the sea for days? beach please The beach bag has been scaled down and is ready to be carried from town to country, to the pool and back again. Designers like Loewe, Balenciaga and Prada have created durable versions of woven basket bags meant to be carried as handbags. The material and shape are obviously perfect for summer and a great way to bring that coastal grandmother vibe into your everyday life. Whether you go for a colorful iteration or stick with the classic neutral tones,

Are you attending a formal wedding? Feathers would look good for this. Maybe you have a big birthday party planned? A feather mini dress is a must. Or if you just want to dress up for your daily coffee sip, then you’re probably already wearing feather-trimmed sleeves to impress the barista. Feathers are without a doubt the funnest fashion trend to be adopted this summer.

Beaded mini dress with feather cuffs

ASOS has the best selection of glittery feather dresses for special occasions and I’m absolutely obsessed with this orange one (and just bought it). The feather sleeves are oversized in the best way and you won’t be able to move your arm without getting 100 compliments.

Whether you’ve been in a relationship for years or choked up the time to swipe left or right, a slip dress is the ultimate look for a date night, and model Chanel Iman agrees. “I love to be comfortable and dresses do just that. For the date night, I opt for a summer wardrobe basic – a little black dress,” says Iman.

Briefs make great LBDs or they can be played up with bright colors or patterns. A slip dress is not only sexy, but can also be combined in many ways. You can wear them alone, over a t-shirt, or with a blazer or cardigan depending on your date night route.

Calling all fashion maximalists! A body chain takes your look and accessories to the next level. Body chains look great with a bikini, a crop top, or over baggy jeans in the summer — if you need more inspiration, Hailey Bieber’s entire Instagram page is basically a body chain fan account. While I wish the trend lasted year-round, layering a body chain over a thick wool sweater is difficult (though I’d dare you to try). This is definitely a trend to try before fall arrives.
