Applications are requested seven full time Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Atmospheric Science at the School of Atmospheric Science, Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST).
The School of Atmospheric Science (SAS) of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST) emerged from the Department of Meteorology of the Nanjing Institute of Meteorology (the predecessor of NUIST) when it was founded in 1960. The school offers a bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science and master’s and doctoral degrees in Meteorology and in Climate System and Climate Change. There is also a post-doctoral research center in atmospheric science. The Atmospheric Science discipline ranked first (rated A+) in the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) national discipline assessments in 2012 and 2017. Known as the “cradle of China’s meteorological talent,” NUIST has trained nearly half of the meteorologists for China’s meteorological industry. Through the International Joint Laboratory for Climate and Environmental Change (one of the first three authorized by MOE), SAS has partnerships with leading universities and research institutions such as Harvard University, Yale University, University of Wisconsin, University of Hawaii and Florida State University built , University of Cambridge, University of Reading, University of Manchester, Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) and Japan Agency for the Development of Marine Science and Technology (JAMSTEC).
The post office is located in the modern city of Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, with easy access to public transportation, international airports, shops, hospitals, etc.
Applications are invited for seven Assistant/Associate/Full Professor positions in Atmospheric Sciences. Research expertise can be in any fundamental or applied area of atmospheric science. Successful appointments are expected to teach courses and conduct research in atmospheric sciences, including climate dynamics, climate simulation, climate change, weather and mesoscale meteorology, numerical weather forecasting and model development, climate model development, climate prediction and assessment, and climate application.
- PhD or equivalent degree in atmospheric science or related fields
- Appropriate research experience and skills in atmospheric science
- High level of English
- Ability to teach courses in atmospheric science
- Publication of at least 3 articles in JCR Q1 & Q2 journals or other equivalent journals
- postdoc experience
- Imparting expertise in climate dynamics, climate simulation, climate change, weather and mesoscale meteorology, numerical weather forecasting and model development, climate model development, climate forecasting and assessment, and climate application
- University level teaching experience
Annual salary of RMB 350,000-1,000,000 (before tax), with a settling-in allowance of over RMB 100,000 (RMB) depending on qualifications and experience;
International travel allowance of 10,000-15,000 RMB per year.
